Abstract

One of the female reproductive tract infections are vaginitis. The impact of
reproductive tract infections ranging from infertility, ectopic pregnancy, chronic pelvic
pain, abortion, increases the risk of HIV, and death. This study aims to determine risk
factors of vaginitis. The approach used in this study was case-control design. The
population in this study were women who received a diagnosis of intrauterine in
Gynecology Polyclinic dr. Doris Sylvanus Palangkaraya Hospital in 2014. These
samples included 186 with the details of women with vaginitis 93 as case and control
women non vaginitis 93 people. Bivariat analysis for the relationship between the
characteristics of, diabetes mellitus, consumption habits antibiotics, the use of IUDs,
the use of anti-septic and replacement of panties on the incidence of vaginitis using chi
square and the relationships among several variables were analyzed with multiple
logistic regression. The result showed that the factors marital status (p = 0.02), the use
of antiseptics (p = 0.03), the replacement of underwear (p = 0.00) showed a significant
relationship to the occurrence of vaginitis. Multiple logistic regression analysis showed
that the replacement factor panties (OR = 11.41; 95% CI = 1.41 to 92.55), p <0.05, the
use of antiseptics (OR = 0.24; 95% CI = 0.06 to 0.92, p <0.05) simultaneously has a
significant relationship with the occurrence of vaginitis. Conclusion there is a
relationship between the replacemen factor panties and use of antisepticswith the
incidence of vaginitis.
