Abstract

Background: The prevalence of anemia increased recently, in Central Kalimantan Province, Indonesia. This study aims to determine differences in knowledge, attitudes, and practices in peer education by using booklets and Modules on anemia in a teenage girl. Methods:The research method used is non-equivalent pretest-posttest with the control group. The study population was all high school girls or equivalent in Palangka Raya City in 2016 which totaled 4348 people. The sample in this study were girls of junior high schools in the City of Palangka Raya totaling 60 people. The treatment group were teenage girls in high school who were given intervention while the control group was teenage girls in high school who were not given intervention. Comparison of knowledge, attitudes, and behavior before and after education is made using the Wilcoxon test, while to compare knowledge, attitudes, and behavior between leaflets and booklets, the Mann-Whitney test was used. Results: Wilcoxon test results showed that the increase in knowledge scores with a p-value of 0.211 (p> 0.05), an increase in attitude scores with a p-value of 0.022 (p> 0.05), an increase in behavioral scores with a p-value of 0.022 (p> 0.05). The results of the comparison test of the effectiveness of the use of leaflet and booklet media with the Mann-Whitney test for p-value knowledge is 0.669 (p> 0.05), the attitude of p-value is 0.623 (p> 0.05), and behavior p-value is 0.935 (p> 0.05). It Conclusion: There was a significant increase in knowledge, attitudes, and behavior after the use of booklet media and modules on prevention of anemia in peer education in teenagers girls the use of media leaflets and booklets had the same effectiveness in increasing the knowledge, attitudes, and behavior of teenage girls about anemia prevention.
