Abstract

Agricultural workers have a risk exposure to pesticides, especially in pesticide sprayers. Exposure to pesticides causes acute and chronic effect. Acute by measure the decreased activity of Erythrocytes Acetylcholinesterase and chronic poisoning by measure cystatin c serum. Aims of study were to analyze the effect of pesticide exposure on Erythrocytes acetylcholinesterase (AChE) activity cross shift in vegetable sprayer farmers.
The type of this research was observational analytic with research design prospective cohort. The sample was consist 18 samples (9 farmers and 9 administrative employe). Measurement of dependent variables AChE Erythrocyte using Ellmann method, independent variables measure with observation and interview. Erythrocyte AChE before spray were 15,20±2,55 IU/g after 11,16±3,36 (paired t test p<0,01). Pesticide exposure that effected AChE eritrosit was work duration, length of employment, amount of pesticide, and PPE usage and sprayer position were significant (linear regression, p<0,05).
It is concluded that Erythrocytes AChE decreases after spraying is affected by the length of employment, duration of work, amount of pesticide, use of PPE and sprayer.
