Abstract
Hypertension is an important risk factor for cardiovascular and cerebrovascular disease. The
prevalence of hypertension in Indonesia tends to increase, so it should be anticipated as early
as possible. Based on Riskesdas 2007 survey found that the prevalence of hypertension in
Central Kalimantan Province is number 8. The prevalence of hypertension in Central
Kalimantan exceed the national average of more than 36%. And Katingan have the highest
prevalence of hypertension among the other districts. The unknown factors associated with
an increased prevalence of hypertension in Kasongan. There should be a research to know
risk factors for hypertension for disease prevention hipertensi. The aim of this study was to
determine the factors associated with incident hypertension in Kasongan using cross
sectional design. Analysis data of this study using univariate analysis, bivariate, and
multivariate. The results of the analysis found seven variables associated with hypertension
can be proved that the consumption of salted fish, tempuyak, wadi, obesity, stress and age.
