Abstract
Background: Overall, IUDs have great potential in supporting the success of family planning programs and effectively controlling the rate of population growth. The Ministry of Health in 2022 shows that the proportion of IUD use has increased slightly to around 8.4%, but it is still far behind the injection method which still dominates more than 60% of active birth control acceptors. Some of the factors that affect the choice of IUD contraceptive method include: the mother's age, the mother's education level, the mother's knowledge level, maternal parity, husband support and socioeconomic conditions. Increased education and counseling are urgently needed to increase the understanding of acceptive mothers on the advantages and safety of IUD use. Objective: To find out the relationship between factors that affect the selection of Intra Uterine Device IUD contraceptives in the Maliku Health Center Working Area. Methods: Quantitative research with a cross sectional design and a total sample of 107 respondents in the Maliku Health Center Working Area. Results: The results of the Chi-square test obtained a p-value on the variables of mother's age p 0.012, mother's education level p 0.000, mother's knowledge level p 0.000, mother's parity p 0.029, mother's work p 0.000 and husband's support p 0.000. Discussion: There is a relationship between the mother's age, the level of mother's education, the level of mother's knowledge, maternal parity, maternal work and husband's support for the selection of Intra Uterine Device IUD contraceptives in the Maliku Health Center Working Area.
