Abstract
Untreated pulmonary TB infection can spread hematogenously to the central nervous system, causing tuberculous meningoencephalitis (TBME), which is the most severe form of extrapulmonary TB. Research Objective: To describe the implementation of nursing care for patients with tuberculous meningoencephalitis at Ulin General Hospital in Banjarmasin. Research Method: A descriptive case study of one patient with Tuberculous Meningoencephalitis admitted to the Tulip II-A inpatient isolation ward at Ulin General Hospital in Banjarmasin. Data collection was conducted through interviews, observations, physical examinations, and document reviews. Research Results: Following the provision of nursing care during the hospitalization period, the results showed an improvement in body temperature from 38.9°C to 37.5°C and an increase in the patient’s level of consciousness from a GCS of 11 to a GCS of 13. No signs of infection were observed, and pain in the head and neck decreased from a scale of 7 to a scale of 3–4. Conclusion: Tepid sponge compresses and tactile stimulation has shown good results in lowering body temperature and improving the level of consciousness in patients, with optimal results achieved particularly when these interventions are performed routinely and consistently.
