Abstract

Background: Stunting is a condition in which children are impaired in growth, so the child's height is not appropriate for age asa result of a chronic nutrient problem which is a lengthy lack of proper nutrition. This event adversely affects children especially toddlers in the form of growth and development disorders in children because they are more vulnerable or at risk of illness. Indonesian nutrition status survey (SSGI) 2022 stunting SSGI drops from 24.4% in 2021 to 21.6% in 2022. For a station-decline target in 2024, 14%, while by 2022 it was still 24%. Purpose: This study is aimed at figuring out the factors behind stunting events in 24-59 years old children in Pahandut community health center Palangka Raya. Research Methods: This study is an analytic observational study by a quantitative method of survey. Using sectionals research design with a 24-59 year-old stunting population. The number of samples was 50 stunted toddlers. The sample retrieval technique use purposive sampling technique and the data analysis used is the chi-square test. Results: Studies show that there is no connection between history of immunization with the incidence of infant stunting (p-value 0,170 >0,05) and there is a connection between mother’s job (p-value 0,012<0,05), picky eater (p-value 0,000<0,05), mother's school history (p-value 0,002<0,05), and family income (p-value 0,003<0,05) with stunting toddler. Job, picky eater, history of mother’s education and family incomes are known to be stunting causes. Stunting early detection is done by measuring the height, weight, and regular monthly training and education activities for mothers regarding efforts to meet the nutritional status of infants.
