Abstract
Background : Hypertension is often referred to as the "silent killer", because it often attacks the elderly (elderly) without feeling anything and without realizing the patient has complications. One way to control blood pressure in hypertensive patients is to use non-pharmacological therapeutic interventions. Reducing hypertension using non-pharmacological therapy, one of which is classical music therapy.
Research Objectives : To determine the effect of classical music therapy on reducing blood pressure in patients with hypertension in the elderly.
Research Method : Literature review, the database used is Google Scholar. The search was carried out in the month (August-September 2021) which can be accessed in full text in pdf and scholary formats. From the results of article searches through the Google Scholar database using keywords according to MeSH (Medical Subject Headings). The researcher got 47 articles out of 47 articles which were excluded on the grounds that the topic did not match the inclusion criteria of the researcher so that 6 articles from the 6 articles were re-excluded so that 3 articles met the inclusion criteria to be processed and identified.
Research results : The identification results in the three articles found various categories of hypertension before the intervention, namely in the first article the majority of hypertension was in the category of mild hypertension as many as 23 respondents (76.6%). In the second article, the majority of high blood pressure were 19 respondents (63.3%). In the third article, the majority of hypertension was in the category II hypertension as many as 9 respondents (53%). Based on three articles, the authors found that there were differences in the categorization of hypertension. It is not explained in detail about the categorization and the blood pressure values in the articles that have been identified so that the authors cannot simulate or generalize the category of hypertension. After the intervention in the article, there were 20 respondents who experienced a decrease in blood pressure in the high normal blood pressure category (66.7%) with a duration of therapy of 30 minutes. In the second article, 22 respondents experienced a decrease in blood pressure to low blood pressure (73.3%) with a duration of therapy of 17 minutes. In the third article, 11 respondents experienced a decrease in blood pressure in the category I hypertension (65%) with a duration of therapy of 15 minutes. At a duration of 17 minutes, many respondents experienced a decrease in blood pressure. From the three articles that have been identified there is a decrease in blood pressure after being given classical music therapy with a duration of 15-30 minutes in various variations of hypertension.
Conclusion : Based on the results of the analysis of articles which amounted to 3 articles, there was an effect of classical music therapy on reducing blood pressure in patients with hypertension in the elderly.
