Abstract
Anemia is caused by iron deficiency caused by physiological changes due to pregnancy that is aggravated by a lack of nutrients, vitamin B12, folic acid and vitamin C. Anemia in pregnant women can cause various risks and complications to the mother, including: CED, bleeding, and can get infected. Based on data at the Buntik Health Center in 2021, there were 114 anemic pregnant women with Chronic Energy Deficiency (KEK) less than 23.5 cm 21.9%.
The aim of the study was to determine the relationship between anemia and chronic energy deficiency (KEK) in first trimester pregnant women in the UPTD working area of the Buntok Health Center.
This study is an observational study with a cross-sectional design. The population in this study were all pregnant women who came to visit K1 in the working area of UPTD Puskesmas Buntok in March 2022 - May 2022, namely 244 pregnant women. The sampling technique was accidental sampling. The total number of samples in this study was 58 pregnant women in the first trimester.
The results of statistical analysis using Fisher's Exact Test obtained p value = 0.0463 (p 0.05). This means that Ho is accepted, meaning that there is a significant relationship between anemia and chronic lack of energy (CED) in first trimester pregnant women. Between anemia and chronic lack of energy (KEK) in first trimester pregnant women, there is a very strong relationship.
