Abstract

Latar Belakang : Diabetes melitus (DM) adalah suatu penyakit kronis yang terjadi ketika kadar gula dalam darah tinggi dan mengakibat tubuh tidak dapat menggunakan insulin yang diproduksi secara efektif. Diabetes melitus dapat berdampak pada kualitas hidup penderitanya.

Tujuan Penelitian : Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui gambaran karakteristik dan kualitas hidup pada pasien diabetes melitus tipe 2 di Puskesmas Menteng Palangka Raya.

Metode Penelitian : Jenis penelitian adalah deskriptif dengan teknik pengambilan sampel metode purposive sampling. Sampel yang digunakan sebanyak 32 responden.

Hasil Penelitian : Diketahui karakteristik responden diabetes melitus di Puskesmas Mentang Palangka Raya berdasarkan usia, jenis kelamin, pendidikan, pekerjaan dan kualitas hidup. Kualitas hidup berdasarkan penelitian sebagain besar responden dengan kategori kualitas hidup baik sebanyak 17 orang (53%) dan kualitas kurang sebanyak 15 orang (47%). Kualitas hidup pasien diabetes melitus merupakan salah satu tujuan pengobatan, jika kualitas hidup baik maka gula dapat dikontrol dan keluhan fisik dapat dicegah dan dihindari.

Kesimpulan : Diharapkan dengan adanya penelitian ini adanya upaya melalui pendidikan kesehatan maupun kegiatan lainnya untuk mempertahankan kualitas hidup yang baik.

Background : Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a chronic disease that occurs when blood sugar levels are high and result in the body not being able to use the insulin it produces effectively. Diabetes mellitus can have an impact on the quality of life of sufferers.

Research Objectives : This study aims to describe the characteristics and quality of life in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus at the Menteng Palangka Raya Health Center.

Research Methods : This type of research is descriptive with the sampling technique purposive sampling method. The sample used was 32 respondents.

Research Results : It is known that the characteristics of respondents with diabetes mellitus at the Mentang Palangka Raya Health Center are based on age, gender, education, employment and quality of life. Quality of life based on research, most of the respondents in the category of good quality of life were 17 people (53%) and poor quality were 15 people (47%). Quality of life of patients with diabetes mellitus is one of the goals of treatment, if the quality of life is good then sugar can be controlled and physical complaints can be prevented and avoided.

Conclusion : It is hoped that with this research there will be efforts through health education and other activities to maintain a good quality of life.
