Abstract

Background: Hypertensive disorders during pregnancy are one of the leading causes of maternal and fetal morbidity and mortality. Compliance with antenatal care (ANC) visits and the characteristics of pregnant women are considered to be associated with the occurrence of hypertension during pregnancy. Objective: This study aimed to analyze the relationship between ANC compliance and the characteristics of third-trimester pregnant women with hypertension during pregnancy at RSUD dr. Doris Sylvanus, Palangka Raya, Central Kalimantan. Methods: This study employed a quantitative cross-sectional design involving 70 thirdtrimester pregnant women. Data were analyzed using univariate and bivariate analyses. The Chi-square test was used to determine the associations between variables, with a significance level of 0.05. Results: The findings revealed significant associations between ANC compliance (p = 0.001), history of hypertension (p = 0.000), and parity (p = 0.002) with hypertension during pregnancy. In contrast, maternal age (p = 0.817), educational level (p = 0.380), and occupation (p = 0.171) were not significantly associated with hypertension during pregnancy. Conclusion: It can be concluded that ANC compliance, a history of hypertension, and parity are factors associated with hypertension during pregnancy. Therefore, improving compliance with ANC visits and strengthening early detection of hypertension risk factors should be prioritized to prevent pregnancy-related complications. Keywords: Antenatal Care, hypertension during pregnancy, third-trimester pregnant women, ANC compliance, parity.
